@davidho PLEASE block the roads, the governments aren't listening... fossil fuel execs are not listening... the media are not listening. Chaos of extreme weather, food shortage and social breakdown are just too close for us to be so comfortable about it. @juststopoil @extinctionrebellion
@Orangejuice There is a phenomal difference in spending 20 mins on the birdsite or on #mastodon. Primarily, I'm not expecting an extreme argument here, discussion yes, information yes, variety yes, shared searching for truth, hope and solution. The name calling and childish responses were incredibly frustrating. Hope we are all in a better place and it builds us all.

By contrast this Mastodon community is igniting robust dialogue, respectful disagreement, and offers little comfort to racists and bigots.

@godpod or build affordable homes and social housing with a welfare net to stop fellow citizens from dying miserably. The UN spelt out a list of basic human rights many years ago, including shelter. Politicians, land owners, landlords, 'developers' and town/city planners had other ideas. God knows how we'll ever stop capitalist greed.
@jasonhickel that is a scary fact. So we want to consume as much as we like in the north while the south suffers the consequences economically and environmentally. Or in other words ongoing colonialism/exploitation.

Contradicting sources need to really speak to eachother or we are going to get a lot of people not knowing what to believe, only seeing the contradictions, making very poor decisions, including fossil fuel execs who will use the lack of clarity ..... and its shockingly stressful for everyone. @ariadne thanks for sharing. Is it becoming more difficult to know where to stand becoz of intentional misinformation? An 'unusual coalition' sounds like a group of business buddies on LinkedIn whose motto is to DESTROY THE WORLD.
