I'd argue that 2017 was a key drive in Matt's career. Now a Porsche junior, he was signed by the Competition Motorsports team to join three other drivers in the #12 Porsche. I doubt much value was had from pro filmmaker and amateur driver David Calvert-Jones, but the other pairing were American GT champion Pat Long and reigning WEC and Le Mans champion Marc Lieb. In 2016, Matt made his last non-Porsche start so far; having not yet risen beyond national competition in Porsche's ranks, he accepted a drive with privateer Tony Walls in his Objective McLaren. It was a favourite for PAM class - Walls was no slouch, Tim Slade was a Supercars regular and Warren Luff a Bathurst gun, and Campbell himself set a lap in final practice that would have been a lap record in quali - but like half the field in 2016, they failed to finish. #racing #car #bathurst
