Seeing a lot folks who didn't get the memo after Venezuela so let me put this to you pointedly:

Your establishment does not oppose Trump's war with Iran. They like war with Iran. They have wanted war with Iran for decades and decades. When Trump does shit like this, or kidnapping the President of Venezuela, they see him as "finally" becoming President.

Now this is awkward because they have said Trump is Hitler, so they may couch their words carefully. But your establishment, supports this.

Even if you argue that politicians are a necessary part of how we're gonna do society, I can guarantee that they will listen and respond a lot more to you in community groups and unions more than you alone. They're gonna do the right thing when they're scared of losing their position without your support, and that means building power with the people around you. We keep giving them our power and letting them run away with it.

My whole life there has been an undercurrent of offhand comments and jokes about how you can never trust a politician. Here we are today (myself included) continuing to be disappointed and taken advantage of by them and their inability to meet the moment. We can do better and we can do it without them.
