If a U.S. Consulate denies a visa, you generally cannot appeal the decision - more from Sabrina Damast and Eric Lee #Immigration https://thinkimmigration.org/blog/2022/12/20/the-doctrine-of-consular-nonreviewability-explained/
The “Doctrine of Consular Nonreviewability” Explained - Blog: Think Immigration

In a video blog post, AILA Law Journal authors Sabrina Damast and Eric Lee explain what the “Doctrine of Consular Nonreviewability” is, why it is important to immigration lawyers, and the current state of the doctrine in federal court litigation.

USCIS has clarified they’re following postmarks dates in terms of when they will reject the new and old Form I-485: https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/dhss-public-charge-final-rule-goes-into-effect-on-dec-23
#Immigration form changes aren't headline grabbing, but they make a big impact. Starting next Friday (12/23), USCIS is changing it's green card form (I-485 Adjustment of Status). There is no grace period this time. Forms that work on Thursday won't work on Friday, and vice-versa. If it's critical that you have an I-485 filed next week, pay very close attention to which edition you are using, and factor in shipping times. Missing a filing deadline because of a form rejection can be disastrous.
Americans typically expect to be able to appeal a decision they don't agree with -- that's generally not possible when sponsoring a visa at a U.S. consulate outside the U.S. Read more in the #AILALawJournal and on #ThinkImmigration, from Eric Lee and Sabrina Damast #immigrationmastodon https://thinkimmigration.org/blog/2022/11/22/why-everyone-should-care-about-the-doctrine-of-consular-nonreviewability/

AILA Law Journal authors Sabrina Damast and Eric Lee shared some insights from their recent article on “Consular Nonreviewability: Fifty Years Since Kleindienst v. Mandel” in which they focused on this important concept and its implications for many families trying to reunite.

Time for my #introductionpost - I'm a U.S. #immigration lawyer in Upstate New York. Basically, I work with companies and employees to navigate our counterintuitive immigration system.

More importantly, I'm a husband and dad, and also have a cat and dog. Does that make me a pet centrist?

Looking forward to discussing immigration law here #immigrationmastodon
I know @austinkocher has a list, but I'm also putting together a list of people who post about #immigration and between us, we will hopefully have a pretty good compilation. Please send me a direct message if you want to be on an #immigrationmastodon list.
