guitarist/singer/composer who has a side hustle selling tea
Not from a year-end list, but this was just shared with me yesterday and I hadn't seen it when it came out. It's from a special edition of Uncut, curated by Pavement in July 2022.
Many thanks to Mark Ibold who submitted this one!
Update: probably packed way too much tea, haha.

Up late putting tea together for tomorrow. I'm going to be selling #tea at Fadensonnen's Holiday Market (Baltimore), the first in-person vending I've done since 2019. I'm remembering that it's kind of a lot of prep work.

Over the next couple hours I'll be filling and sealing something like 40 of these stand-up pouches, making a price list, packing up teaware...gonna bounce some mixes of some recent music I've made to listen to while I work...oughta help.

My kitchen helper, laughing when I do impressions of Jerry and Brent soloing as we jam out to 10-31-83 while I cook dinner

Playing a show in Baltimore tomorrow night at The Crown. This will be the first time this year that I've played as part of a duo with drummer/percussionist Mike Kuhl... Our set will be jazz-adjacent improvised music with some looping.

The Arm is a new trio that plays sort of ambient psychedelic music I believe (haven't heard them yet)

Kamyar Arsani is Iranian-born and plays a daf (a type of middle eastern frame drum) while singing ancient poetry in Farsi. Powerful, enchanting stuff!

Today's photographic reminder to myself of just how good Mi Lan Xiang "Honey Orchid" tea is. Really hitting the spot today.
