If you teach social statistics or research methods, and you are not teaching students about skip logics and branching in surveys you are doing them a disservice.
Most of my graduate students come to me with no idea that survey ?s are not asked of every respondent
This leads to major problems - the biggest being a huge loss of cases when coding.
We should teach all students to read through the survey looking for skips and how to recode by incorporating information from multiple variables

I am a sociologist studying gender, work, and family issues. I am currently working on an NSF funded project examining changes in the gendered division of labor in families during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Looking to connect with sociologists and other work-family scholars.
I post about research, fatherhood, politics, and sports.
