It's amazingly good that this has been changed. Now I can find posts which mention my specific interests. This will increase my use of Mastodon.
@privateger @natty It's great for finding specific content. I like searching for stuff I like, such as Kenji Mizoguchi, Gakuryu Ishii or Faye Wong.
@privateger @natty It's so cool that Mastodon has text search now. I found this post while searching for Riit (the electropop singer in inuktitut).

Wow, text search in Mastodon, finally!

At first I thought it didn't work because I tested it with Diao Yinan. Nobody but me had mentioned him (apparently). But with Akira Kurosawa and Kenji Mizoguchi, I'm able to find results. I mean, actual results. Of people talking about them. So I can find interesting content with a specific search. In Mastodon.

Without text search, Mastodon isn't doing it for me. I can't search for "August in the Water". I can't search for "Gakuryū Ishii". I can't search for Riit, Aasiva or Chatmonchy. I can't find the content I love to follow and interact with people, share thoughts and then discover new things.

Sorry.

You've got to love August in the Water (水の中の八月; Gakuryū Ishii, 1995). Its mesmerizing visuals, its baffling mystery, its great set of characters, its riveting music and its crazy development. Everything seems to be there just for you to love it. This is a good measure of just how beautiful cinema can be.

Watch it on YouTube or Internet Archive. #Movies

#Movies #Cinema

If You Dare Desire... (Debalina Majumder, 2017) takes off from the story of two young girls, Swapna and Sucheta, who were in love and died by suicide together in Nandigram, West Bengal, India. As in the documentary "And the Unclaimed" (2013), we learn that the heavy opposition they faced was a key factor in their death. But here we see them escape and seek freedom in a new life. One of the most beautiful and touching films I've ever seen.

If You Dare Desire...

Febrero, 2011.

Thanks for the repost. Since that post, "Woman in the dunes" has also entered my top 7, so unfortunately Corn Island is now out.
@neatchee @d4doome The "no text search" seems to be a very conscious design decision, to which I disagree, not a consequence of scarce development resources. The platforms I will like most in the future will have a decent text search.
