Ok, the article gets there eventually…
@[email protected] Regarding restricting the use of terms, in this case I think the article is a bit unfair to the trademark owner. It doesn’t appear at all that they’re saying “you can’t use the words ‘worship leader.’” Rather, they publish online media under that brand and the recipient of the cease and desist letter publishes a blog titled “Worship Leader Probs.” If the latter is monetized at all, this sounds pretty straightforward to me. Confusion seems probable…
@[email protected] I follow you - I can see the possibility of tension there. I guess the question might come down to whether a particular use of a mark was in the exercise of the religion or “in commerce.” I suppose it’s possible for a given use to be both, but that would likely be unusual. Or maybe not, I don’t know…
@[email protected] A tax-exempt religious organization can engage in commerce like any other organization, so long as its activities are actually religious in nature and profits don’t inure to individuals. It’s not clear that Authentic Media is tax-exempt, but even if it is, I don’t see why the religious subject matter would be of any relevant to the trademark issues.
@PeggyJoan most of that appears to be false. But hey, it’s the internet

That's very interesting! I imagine that quite a few jet flights are over a short enough distance where the jet doesn't really get you there much quicker.

That's what I gleaned from one website. This one, which looks a little more official, has it more like .6 lb/mile. Not as bad as my first number, but still big!

Again, the point isn't to excuse private jets. But the media coverage makes it seem like it's an overwhelmingly huge part of the problem. It's bad, for sure, but so are a bunch of choices far more individuals are making.
