This year we lost my dad. We also gained a son. I’ve been thinking about them both today.
Their lives only overlapped by a few months, but if my son is blessed with a life as long as his pop-pop’s, then their combined lifespans would stretch from the 1940s to the 2100s.
That’s the length of time from the first steam locomotive to a man walking on the moon. Or from the U.S. Civil War to today. What stretch of history will he carry forward?
Parental PSA: Be sure to enunciate the “v” when you say “we’re going to VOTE” or you could end up with a very disappointed child who thought you were going to see a BOAT.
