Researchers at Stanford University have published a new study in the journal Energy & Environmental Science that claims 145 of the world’s nations could switch to 100% renewable energy in a few years using renewable energy technologies available today.

The research team says switching to renewable energy would create more jobs than would be lost and save consumers trillions of dollars.

If you're thinking about moving instances—or you'd like to know yet more about my dreams for better networks—here's a post you might want to read:

FEDIVERSE NOTICE -- PLEASE BOOST!

To all Calckey.social users:

The preparations are finally complete. We will be migrating to firefish.social soon. All your posts, dms, etc will be in-tact.

To all Fediverse server admins:

You and your users will probably see a lot of follows from firefish.social. Please don't be alarmed, this is going to be the result of everyone migrating their account at once. Since there are only ~2500 users here, it hopefully shouldn't be too much pressure on your servers, but to be safe, it's slightly staggered to avoid bombarding a server all at once.

Today in things you never thought you'd say until you had kids:

Please don't rub your face on the bus

Please cut your food on your plate instead of your knee

Please don't touch mysterious white powders in parking lots.

Please don't eat the napkin

My kids are 7 and 11 for reference

reactionaries are like: “SF should sweep tents because they’re an ADA violation!”

meanwhile, SF sidewalks:

I attended @BHSafeStreets Safety Improvements Celebration this afternoon; great to see folks like @Stumptoemerald & @BeaconHillBikeDad who I’m sure also brought an extra set of flashing beacons w everything else in his bottomless cargo bike. We’ll find out speeding stats later

Improvements included:
-speed cushions on both 14th Ave & 15th Ave
-paint & flexpost curb bulbs
-new painted crosswalks with flashing beacon lights

- also, people who are doing useful work around transportation tend to see social media as largely a place to blow off steam, unless they are posting on behalf of an org, to try and get people to go to an action, etc. Even online, actual serious policy and strategy discussions typically take place in private.

If you think that what is basically a meme is a major component of anyone's political strategy, I recommend getting involved in more concrete initiatives in your local community.
