@Eyepatch13 My brother uses Vivaldi (I think!)

I'm really hopeful that after the recent developments (manifestv3, mozilla doing... mozilla things) a new set of browsers emerge

Feels like a major problem to tackle though

@plwt You're most welcome, appreciate the kind words!

@Eyepatch13 Yeah, an icon would also be great 🤣

Completely valid request, will do! I just got frustrated at the absolute state of things. Knowing myself, if I don't post immediately, I would never end up doing it.

I'll need to figure out a way to illustrate the difference between what's out there and what this one does. It's such a small difference but so meaningful (at least to me).

I can't believe that this is not a native feature, but:

I made an extension for Firefox which enables you to open a homepage on your new tab screen **WITHOUT THE PAGE TAKING FOCUS AWAY FROM THE ADDRESS BAR**.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/simply-new-tab/

Primarily with homelabbers in mind who host their own dashboards, but it will just use the homepage set in Firefox settings.

Will open source, it was a 15 minute job.

Boosts would be appreciated!

Download Simply New Tab for Firefox. Open your homepage in new tab with an empty and focused address bar.

@dansup dude, as one dev to another, with all the love in my heart: go to bed

@EposVox Workflow dependent I'd say - If you're editing one-offs or have another solution for catalog management, Affinity Photo is great! I own a v2 all-app license and am loving it.

However, I still use Capture One to manage the sessions and develop the RAW files - the session / catalogue management workflow aligns with how my brain works very well. Once done there, if any pixel edits are needed, I'll use AP.

The Internet Archive losing its appeal means one thing: pirate stuff. Pirate brazenly. There’s no point trying to do it the nice way - you’ll get shut down anyway. Copy, share, and archive to your heart’s content. It’s the only way we’re keeping digital media and our cultural memory intact.

@kristinHenry TIL hashtags can be followed. That's neat!

I did a thing with data!

I'm not a plant guy, but @rynezion infected me with her enthusiasm, and I really liked this plant, so I got it. Say hi to Cody! (Codiaeum variegatum)

Been warned that it's a bit difficult to keep alive for a starter plant.

To make sure I don't kill the poor soul, I hacked together a way to monitor the soil's moisture content. It's a prototype but it's working really well so far. Really happy with it!
