Unexpectedly jolly sack of bones and tissue. Doing systems biology postdoc at ISTA@Vienna. Open-source, Rust, formal methods, general internet weirdness.
It's coming together... The OpenFlexture digital microscope. Still waiting for some electronics, but hopefully we'll get first pictures out of it soon...

This post has been long overdue now... but our BNClassifier paper is out, and it even won the best tool paper award at CMSB in Pisa this year.

Thank you for a nice conference, and congratz to Ondřej for having the work recognized!

BNClassifier: Classifying Boolean Models by Dynamic Properties

Partially Specified Boolean Networks (PSBNs) represent a family of Boolean models resulting from possible interpretations of unknown update logics. Hybrid extension of CTL (HCTL) has the power to express complex dynamical phenomena, such as oscillations or stability....

My new office is equipped with cutting edge computational technology! Roughly 0.3 instructions per second by my estimation.

(for real, I am genuinely delighted!)

Christmas spirit: Swapping a battery on a Pixel 3a to keep it out of the landfill a bit longer. The whole thing was surprisingly painless assuming you already disassembled a modern phone before.

But the display adhesive was a real pain to clean up. Did not react to alcohol at all and would just clog up in sticky blobs instead of peeling off.

Hey mastodon, do you think it's snowman time?

'cause I think it's snowman time.

After 2(?!) years, our family "cloud" finally has an off-site backup. It's just an old 2TB drive connected to a NanoPi R5S (which doubles as a router, but has quite enough power for both).

The fascinating thing is that this drive is from our first NAS and is more than 10 years old at this point. In fact, no hard drive we ever had in a NAS has failed yet.

With a heavy heart I do have to admit: Edwin Akufo was right. The Chicago hotdog is clearly superior.
Elon finally has that cool "we must protect the purity of our bodily fluids" energy.
Today, the #cmsb23 conference is ending. As always, a super engaging week for systems biologists! I barely managed to chat with everyone, could surely use an extra day or two to catch up on all the presentations. Lovely to be in Luxembourg again, and (hopefully) see you in Pisa next year :)
On the move again. Cheers to everyone who came for ISMB. #lyon #ismb2023 #ismbeccb2023
