So, how do you cope with that? What do you tell yourself in the morning that makes you wade through that shit and be able to look at yourself in the mirror? How do you keep going, even if you know that your work actively makes the world a worse place? Sure, bubble and all that. But right now I struggle to think further than a week in advance.

I feel like I can't do my job anymore. It just disgusts me, I open my Laptop in the morning with the mandatory Windows 11 install shoving shit in my face and just want to throw it all down a cliff. But I can't leave now. Having a child and the general cost of living means I can't easily change to another field, and even if I had the time and mental capacity to change employers, nothing would stop them going down the same road in half a year.

I had a hard time coping with all the implications that the global push to use LLMs for all the things they are not designed or practical for, starting with moral and ethics and ending with me being hindered in every aspect of daily life that formerly involved talking to humans or using deterministic machines. This will affect me way harder.

What I thought was a meek "we'll give the customers LLM agents and let them wreak havoc on their own while taking legal measures to not be responsible for that" turned into a full blown "we want every piece of code and text to be piped through whatever flavor of the month LLM is hip now", not as a suggestion, but as a "sudo do what I want" from the owner.

Dear Fediverse: I need help. I need coping strategies. My employer just gobbled up all the LLM Kool-Aid, and I haven't been there long enough to have any hopes of stopping this train. 10 years ago I would've just quit on the spot and made do with savings and freelance work till something else popped up. I have a 7 months old daughter now, and neither the emotional nor fincancial stability to do that.
