Enterprise architect / former #infosec security assessor and pen tester. Avid MMO / D&D gamer, reenactor, and knitter. We rescue hedgehogs and have 1 (Smidgen).

I'm also a veteran, and I was part of the counter-protests when the convoy-of-fascists rolled into town.

Music: mostly non-commercial stuff - electronica, trance, psychill, ambient, baroque, renaissance, early jazz, dubstep...

Proudly "over-educated".

I really need used, donated smartphones and Chromebooks. I have students and vulnerable persons who need to stay safe and connected to resources.

Please factory reset before donating. I'm happy to pick them up in the Edmonton area. Call, text, or email me.

This was written a year ago but might be relevant today for some reason (United Healthcare is the target of the suit) https://arstechnica.com/health/2023/11/ai-with-90-error-rate-forces-elderly-out-of-rehab-nursing-homes-suit-claims/
UnitedHealth uses AI model with 90% error rate to deny care, lawsuit alleges

For the largest health insurer in the US, AI's error rate is like a feature, not a bug.

Successfully handed off two of my ongoing projects to a coworker. This frees me up to focus on a couple of things:
* Tech lead for several security assessments from the service point of view (not the assessor for once). I look after gathering the evidence and the documentation
* Tech advisor for an upcoming standard
I suck at delegating lol

Thanks to a recommendation on here a couple of days ago, I picked up the Kindle edition of Elon musk - EnquĂȘte sur un nouveau maĂźtre du monde (French Edition). This required some shuffling of my Kindle account, because this book is only available on the .ca Kindle store, not the .com store. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0CW183CSW/

I'm Canadian, but I originally created my Kindle account on the .com store back when there was very little on the .ca store, and never migrated it until now. But because I already have a separate .ca account and it's my Prime account, I had to create an email alias on my email provider to be able to do the move.

Anyways all that to say I'm all set now, and it's downloading as I type.

A technical deep-dive, since people have been asking me for my thoughts. I'll expand a bit on some of the key points here in a thread. đŸ§”

A biography by a British graphic novelist of Elon Musk is struggling to find an English-language publisher due to feared “legal consequences”.

“Cunningham praised Delcourt, who also put out the French edition of his book on Putin, for “having the courage” to publish the Musk book.”

After ProPublica reported that two women died from Georgia’s abortion ban, the state’s top health official fired every member of a group tasked with investigating deaths of pregnant women, assuming one of them leaked the information.

It’s a clear sign that the state wants to cover up those deaths.

Georgia Dismissed All Members of Maternal Mortality Committee After ProPublica Obtained Internal Details of Two Deaths

In a letter, the state’s public health commissioner said the action was taken because “confidential information provided to the Maternal Mortality Review Committee was inappropriately shared with outside individuals.”
