It's one of the best things about these sorts of novel social spaces - there are a lot of folks for whom the name on their driver's license or what their face looks like isn't representative of who they are or how they'd like to be seen by others. Policies like facebook's "real name" approach can be really stifling and harmful in a lot of cases.
