WOW! So, I didn't hold out much hope for this guy when I accidentally knocked off his cotyledon while I was removing the moisture dome last week: deprived of the nutrients the mother plant saved up for its development in the cotyledon, the nascent seedling is usualy doomed. But the stalk didn't shivel or brown, so I concocted a very dilute solution of a rooting hormone and neutral fertilizer in the water i carefully gave it alone (over-stimulating seedlings can be damaging to the health of the resulting plant).
Looks like it worked! This is an ~extreme~ close up — the true leaves it is forming are currently only about the size of hangnails. And it isn't out of the woods yet. But with it being only the second seedling to develop true leaves from the Indonesian Rainbow plumeria mother's pod, it's the kind of thing that brings me joy in today's world.

Hopefully disaster was averted. Temp was forecast to drop only to 40f overnight so I left the babies out. Woke up this morning to snow. Air temp is still high 30s (38f) so fingers crossed. I took the pictures after I'd brought them into the basement and brushed the snow off the leaves –didn't want to trigger anyone by showing screaming tomato plants. 😎

Nice to see some are feeling up to flowering. I might just pinch them off for now so when they get set out in a couple of weeks the plants can focus on adjusting.

Cooper: "Do you really want to do a whole walkies loop?"
Me: "you did your business, we can go home."
Cooper: "I heard 'home'!"

Wednesday seedlings update. They are out enjoying sone sun before it's predicted to get chilly tomorrow. Gave away around 30 last week to friends and family in Indiana.

Bumping up in fiberpot size just in time for this guy! One of two Indigo Blue Beauty seedlings ready to go with a spray of blossoms starting to form.

Wednesday seedlings update: the tops of leaves in one tray are now brushing against the lights so getting dried out. The tray with the seedlings that were stunted by too much bottom heat are now fully recovered and now nearly as big as the others.
