Phew! The thinnest wire I have (a tiny bit thicker than the original) used to replace the original fuse wire. Everything starts correctly now. The fuse was for the -12v line which I assume must have something to do with the CRT HV starting..

I'm not worried about the wire being a tiny bit thicker as I won't be blundering through there again in a hurry. And it really is only a fraction thicker.

Anyway, it works. 😁

A crap night. While measuring voltage at a power connector on the Cifer 1887 I slipped, shorting GND to 12v very briefly. Just a spark but now it's completely dead, CRT and all. Got the PSU out and one of the fuses has blown. Not sure if that's all that's wrong. I frickin' hope so.

Not quite on the same scale as launching a massive rocket and then catching the fiery end in the same spot, but I managed to get a Gotek working on my Cifer 1887. It's an obscure British computer from c.1984 that runs CP/M and, if I can fix it at some point, possibly Unix..

The #TorchTripleX is possessed, I'm sure of it. I've done NOTHING to it but now it's giving me a different error beep sequence. Short Long Short Short. That's not even in the freakin' manual!!

Arrrghhhh!!!!!

Well, shoot. Guess what I missed in the T3X power supply?

That white dude hanging out there, trying not to be noticed. It's a feckin' battery. That explains an awful lot...

Grrrrr.

Darn it. Forgot to add the critical photo ..

Hmmm. Guess what I found in the T3X (got fed up typing Torch Triple X all the time) power supply.

And there's been some moisture in here at some point. The bottom of the power supply is worst but the flywheel on the floppy drive is also affected.

But it's definitely got a 68010 and what I suspect may be the mother of all rare things, a 1mb RAM upgrade called a 'limpet'.

Still a way off to first switch on. Things to do:
Fix & test power supply
Service floppy
Check monitor

Ok. Here it is. A Torch Triple X with a 10 inch Trinitron monitor and a 12 inch (I think) 'normal' monitor.

Also includes the keyboard and, rather excitingly, a mouse that plus in under the keyboard.

There's a massive box of documentation too as well as hard disks and other bits and bobs.

This one is going to be taken very slowly but will be fun. 😁

Bloody hell. I recapped my other A1200 board to proper SMD caps. The composite output doesn't work but I already knew about that. Everything is working for the stock machine.

So I get out the 1230 68030 accelerator with 8mb RAM. Guess what? The freakin' RAM isn't detected.

Arrrggghhhhh!!!!

I must be cursed. 🙄😡

I'm taking a break from the possessed A2000 RAM expansion. Back on to more familiar ground.

Now I have a decent stock of surface mount caps, I'm going back to my two A1200s to right a terrible wrong....
