"They say if you scratch a cynic, you'll find a disappointed idealist."

When your home burns, floods, or is destroyed in an extreme climate weather event, when someone in your family dies from heat waves, or when crops fail and people starve—come for these three people: Wael Sawan (Shell CEO), Darren Woods (Exxon CEO), and Patrick Pouyanne (TotalEnergies CEO). They knew what was coming and did it to you anyway. Sue them, shame them, heckle them, despise them. These are choices. They are to blame, not society.

Big oil quietly walks back on climate pledges as global heat records tumble

Energy firms have made record profits by increasing production of oil and gas, far from their promises of rolling back emissions

@luckytran I've been expecting this for a while. Next you'll see banks and other businesses banning customers with masks

The entire point was to kill bird app and the regular folks’ use of it to find & create community, share info & resources as a means to disrupt/dismantle oligarchy hold on exploitative systems.

You all are really privileged & slow if you think that wasn’t a major goal of Elmo + Jack (as aided by other billionaires.)

BlueSky is NOT an alternative.

Catch up.

When it Comes to Climate, Beware the “Calm Down” Guy

Anyone insisting that you “calm down” about climate change is living in denial about the catastrophes that are at our doorstep.

@theserfstv maybe if someone could actually try to primary the douchebag they might get someone with the guts to take a stand on anything

@stux originally, twitter was searchable w/o signing in. Then, only able to search specific accounts. Then, only able to type the exact address or be redirected from a link.
Now, nothing is viewable.

And still, everyone stays.

We are a weak-minded species

Musk's Saudi-government-funded "free speech" Twitter now considers "cis" a slur that can be punished by suspension of the account.

Just a reminder that journalists are directly supporting his extremism by pouring their work into his site. And advertisers (including some media companies) are even more directly supporting his extremism.

I have my own hypocrisies, but helping Musk poison our public discourse is not one of them.

@juglugs this is great, but also reminds me that governments putting up "don't text and drive" signs also greenlight flashy advertisements on the side of every road
@stux people are paid less because there's an assumption of tips built into their pay structure.
Not tipping while this situation is still in place won't change the system. It will just screw over an employee further
If food is too expensive to tip in addition, I'd suggest not eating out
