Good morning! A post just rolled across my fedi-timeline saying not to post about politics on Mastodon, so I'm here to remind you that:

1 "politics" refers to decision-making about how to live together in groups
2 choosing to not participate in political discussion is saying you support the status quo, and is a political stance
3 abstaining from politics because you feel safe from its impacts is a privilege and a choice to abandon your more vulnerable neighbours

I have finished reading The Red Scholar's Wake. Yes, it's a lesbian space pirate romance. But also it's an interrogation of idealism, the replication of corrupted power structure when attempting to be free of corrupt power structures, and the pain of action in spite of fear and uncertainty.

Beautiful, as expected. Strong recommend.

They must all be ripped down, crushed, and destroyed at first visibility, now and forever. The Paradox of Tolerance tells us that our own principles cannot survive if we tolerate those who are intolerant, because they won't play by the same rules, and they will eliminate our own freedom.
