#BlackFriday #BlackMastodon #BlackTwitter #MusicFromTheMotherland Went to see Lady BlackSmith Mambazo last weekend. I'll link a tribute the current group does to their founder, but what I wanted to share was that the 30 somethings in the audience talked throughout the entire a cappella performance! They filmed despite being asked not to and when one of the singers mentioned an event in NY, they all whipped out their phones to search...sigh. I enjoyed what I could hear. https://youtu.be/IbjkAsQoZjs?si=3E-uQN1ucaaMclSF

I wonder what Twitter is like these days 😬
I mean… if *I* wrote even one thing that I liked having created that spoke to the hearts and imaginations of literally millions of people and made me literal billions of dollars, I would just shut the actual fuck up, or AT LEAST not be an active and vocal bigot. 🤷🏾‍♂️
Jowling Kowling Rowling continues to be proof that the longer you let bigotry sit unexamined in your heart, the more it festers and rots, and the further it spreads.

Got the first shot (of two) of my shingles vaccination and feel absolutely fine, save for a little soreness at the injection site, for which my CBD salve is working wonders.

Everyone said this one is rough but so far, so fine!

Get your shingles shots y'all. However much it hurts (it doesn't), it's soooo much less painful than shingles.

Edited to add: Apparently the shot is limited to 50 and up, a club I recently joined. So get it when you can, youngsters!

reasons to abolish daylight savings time:

1. disrupts sleep cycles

2. creates unnecessary confusion

3. I am not an 18th-century wretch trying to conserve papa's precious stores of whale oil

Reddit signed a deal with Google to use its data to train LLMs. To celebrate, we made a firefox extension that lets you replace all your comments with any text of your choosing. All we ask is that you not choose something copyrighted. The New York Times is currently suing OpenAI for training ChatGPT on its copyrighted material, and we wouldn't want Reddit's uniquely valuable data to become hopelessly intermingled with that of litigious copyright-holders.

(Unfortunately for you, that is. Fortunately for me, I’m sure.)

in preparation for one of the cringiest days on the internet coming up, i revisited my favorite april fools joke that the media keeps falling for https://livelaugh.blog/posts/falling-for-princes-fridge/
falling for prince's fridge - live laugh blog

as a former professional satirist, i know that you can always make someone fall for something. as april fools day approaches us again, i'd like to share what i believe was the only good april fools joke ever: heavy table's 'what's in prince's fridge'. click that right now, read it, and then come back. heavy table is a reader-sponsored culinary online zine based in prince's home zone, minneapolis and they are absolute legends for this one.

Unmitigated COVID is overwhelming hospital systems- globally.

From Canada to the UK to the US to Australia and beyond, media keeps framing the hospital crises as local and budget related. What about the elephant in the room?
