In the latest Recliner Notes post on the songs of #BillCallahan, Smog's "Feather by Feather" demonstrates how Callahan can play with and sometimes subvert country music forms to explore deep, emotional themes.

The post also includes comparisons with Callahan's #DragCity peers #DavidBerman of the #SilverJews and #BonniePrinceBilly who also have been known to take on similar artistic modes as Callahan.

@Artchivesgrrl Me promise me will be extremely dainty when me eat these!
@BlackAzizAnansi Me can confirm that me am, is, are, and be eating cookies on Sesame Street and wherever else cookies are available.
So, I've been enjoying an audiobook on the history of women lighthouse keepers. One of these days I need to write this idea I've had for a long essay in praise of the "small beer" book. Non-fiction books that aren't attempting to explain humanity or expose a new crisis or reorient the universe. Just identifying a little forgotten something, doing the research, and saying "it was like this."
@GrimmReality Even more impressive, hangers-on at Warhol factory single-handedly changed meaning of "uptight" from "having your shit together" (as used in Stevie Wonder song "Uptight, Everything is All Right") to meaning anxious (because Warhol crew were doing so much speed).
@JamesGleick Best move would have been to pull all their journalists from Twitter, further delegitimizing site. But sucking up to authoritarians kind of New York Times "whole thing," as kids say.
