Stuart Bogie on clarinet and Buck McDaniel on organ performing/improvising November Variations this morning at the Church of Our Saviour on Park Ave and 38th St. Gorgeous and timeless and other worldly.
Thank you Phil.
Stopped in today at old fave The Red Caboose, a basement hobby labyrinth on 45th bw Fifth and Sixth with a friendly but crotchety proprietor. Stacked floor to ceiling with model trains, planes, and automobiles. A gem worth seeking out.
Georgia Hubley played my snare drum last night at a Yo La Tengo house show (benefit for Harris Walz), which I’ll float on for days.
They played (mostly) acoustic, taking requests the whole hour-plus, and sounded fantastic. Magical evening.

This is a major loss. Fare thee well Steve Silberman. His Neurotribes is the definitive history of autism and has proven to be an indispensable resource for me. Steve of course was also a legendary deadhead, an extraordinary element of the GD firmament. And he was a wonderful human.
This is Steve, me, and my friend Annie Nero at the 92Y in 2017 for a discussion called The Genius of the Grateful Dead, put together by my friend, and Steve’s, Andrew Krucoff.
