Twin Oaks Community has been diversifyiing their businesses. Now they're getting into shrouds. They write: "EarthBound Shrouds. Burial shrouds are a product line made by the new Twin Oaks Textiles business. Photo: our team demonstrating shrouds and giving a workshop at DeathFest for the 200 people who came for the event.
I’ve developed this schedule for Commune Life where I take off the months of August and December, so I can travel and do things. So I am wrapping up for the year here. I’m hoping that all our readers do something to celebrate the change of the season and we will return in 2026, with lots more posts on communes, communities, communal living, creating community, income-sharing, all kinds of sharing, and mutual aid. See you next year! - Raven
In 2023 Twin Oaks wrote: "GRATITUDE HARVEST FEAST. Though we no longer observe traditional American Thanksgiving, we do celebrate a harvest feast. I love that they celebrate a Gratitude Harvest Feast--but not on the traditional Thanksgiving day which they celebrate as a day of mourning in solidarity with Indigenous folks.
In 2023 Twin Oaks wrote: "DAY OF MOURNING. For some years Twin Oaks has observed this day of mourning on the day that other Americans celebrate Thanksgiving." I think that other communities may do this also.
Just ahead--almost two weeks of interviews with people who have lived in (and sometimes created) income sharing communities...
