@eigenman Still working to find my new format.
Substack is kinda cool but it’s just a lot… don’t really want to commit to that kind of sustained effort just yet.
Watching to see how they all develop.
Agree that Reddit is also a good haunt.
@eigenman the twitter app used to be more habit forming. Some people dislike that, but I considered it a feature because I’m not always good at forming new habits on my own.
Now neither is all that habit forming, so I find my attention drifting to other things that are.
Yeah I see that. Probably depends on the kid.
But we mostly read stories of how to be successful in the face of adversity to our kid, so I suppose that a sort of tacit agreement .
So our kid is into Pokémon now and wants to watch the TV show.
And there’s this scene where Ash and the other trainers meet some new person and she’s a girl and they’re like, “yo — you’re so beautiful how can you be a good Pokemon trainer?”
Anyhow — I’m looking for tips to rekindle the love of a child who has been told our family has decided that listening to NPR is the new television.
@mentalhealthchampion looked it up — I’d say colonization (the psychological phenomenon not the territory but) is one very destructive instantiation of this gone awry, yes.
But I also think it’s a broader observation than that, and decolonializarion incorporates some problematic epistemological premises (like a lot of postmodern thought tho, it’s a general pattern).
Rohan, please read my whitepaper below.
All peer review is censorship. This is an a priori fact. No questions at this time please.
“People’s behaviors typically follow a consistent rule set defined by their worldview.”
“Like rules in a game?”
“Yeah actually, kinda like that.”
“Cool.”
“Yes. Oh, one thing: everyone’s game is different, with completely different rules.”
“Wait now it kinda sounds dumb.”
