Energy lifted us from poverty, but the benefits are fleeting on a geological scale. Exploiting this short lived gift/curse, humanity finds itself in an inextricable quagmire, as we've simultaneously destroyed all other ecological supports on which we rely. The best we could have hoped for a carefully managed transition back to pre-fossil fuels society. Instead we've accelerated towards the cliff by doubling down on energy dependence.

Before, I thought there was rationality to the destruction. The pursuit of money and power. Today, it's clear they simply don't care. They want to accelerate the end game. No motive required. That's the clarity.
This won't solve all our problems in the event of total collapse, but a prepared community is more resilient and may be able to mitigate some of the damage.

Under normal circumstances, psychologists have methods for dealing with these issues. They are temporary or internal - caused by one's own brain. I.e. a "me" problem.
But what if the source of my dread is permanent and external. In other words, my brain is not the problem. My brain is simply observing facts. How do you cure reality?
I didn't write this. But it was too good not to share.
It explains why the concept of America is almost, if not already, dead. Assuming there's a 2028 election, there's no fixing the damage to America's internal capabilities and international standing.
