Increasingly finding myself recommending Linux to family members who just want a way to escape the endless updates and slowness every time they boot Windows. Never expected to see so many people migrating for simple ease of use
@malin Yeah I'll keep on with it! It also has the benefit of looking particularly cool (to people who don't know what I'm attempting to do anyway). Thanks, I'll certainly be trying out qutebrowser.
@Ghosty@areppo@ChrisWere Can recommend Posteo! I like that I can see what I'm paying for (not that it costs much) and I like that they consider the environment. Also works with clients like Thunderbird, whereas Tutanota doesn't - not much of a deal breaker for some people, but I do like to be able to look through email offline
Going to be doing some travelling and won't always be able to use my own computer. Does anyone have any advice for distros they find work reliably as a live usb?
#introduction Hi everyone! I'm from the UK, and relatively new to both Mastodon and Linux - the younger more naive me had no idea how booting his first Linux distro would have him questioning all sorts of notions of liberty in the modern world. Very happy to be here! #introductions
