ErkhyanYou ever just see a pronunciation guide written in the International Phonetic Alphabet and tell yourself that, wow, you’d rather take your chances with guesswork instead?
Seek guesses that this is a cat-faced spider (Araneus gemmoides). It was awfully small for an orb-weaver, but the web it was on definitely had that distinctive pattern. Further searching showed that the spiderlings do have this general form, so this could be a young'un.
That abdomen sure does evoke a tiny cat face!
