Somehow landed on the NetBSD manpage of sleep(1) and they seem to have a rather unique take on what is considered a bug.
Seek guesses that this is a cat-faced spider (Araneus gemmoides). It was awfully small for an orb-weaver, but the web it was on definitely had that distinctive pattern. Further searching showed that the spiderlings do have this general form, so this could be a young'un.
That abdomen sure does evoke a tiny cat face!
