Going beyond the obvious problems with pesticides, fertilizer, and monoculture, it examines the cultural norms we take for granted and assume harmless. We are reminded the current system is dramatically different from what we relied on even 100 years ago. A return to the old ways, even if possible, would be insufficient in meeting the needs of humanity. We are introduced to some potential paths forward, leading to a new system that operates within planetary boundaries. #ecology #civilization
In early 2022 I began posting books on the birdsite as I finished reading them. These are not reviews but merely to share and perhaps discuss. I wanted to keep track of the titles without using any book-specific platform. REGENESIS by George Monbiot would have next in the thread but instead it will be the first one here. Maybe fitting as it details the stark trajectory of our global food systems and all the environmental and other damage caused. 1/
Native wildflowers in my garden as winter approaches. I’m most inspired to take pics of them at this stage for some reason. #nativeplants #HamOnt #ontario file:///private/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/6BA9212F-CD34-4DEB-8F12-B0748FE86B32/tmp/.managed/a89e-9d7a-e5cb-db6a/DSC_1631.jpg

Your Mastodon feed won't improve through passive engagement. There is no algorithm to suggest and share what you liked.

You must actively follow different people to see what they boost, and you must boost for other people to see. Some people are from different servers. You will see more of what they see organically. You can also hashtag to increase visibility.

There is no quote retweet either. You have to actively engage and comment in the thread.
