Two weeks ago I was sadly laid off from a job I took last year to help a friend do incredible physical design work.

Within a week I had two minor (yet surprising) contracts with new clients.

One in #design, one in #art.

Iโ€™m quite lucky.

If you need either, letโ€™s get in touch. ๐Ÿ’ช

I've been working on an up-to-date flood data insights project for South Oxford Flood Action Group (SOFLAG) - an end-to-end research and validation, prototyping, design and development project aggregating data from live telemetry sensors, Environment Agency stations and manual readings.

I have written more about this work on my site: https://simonclayson.co.uk/case-studies/soflag/

New work from me: South Oxford Flood Action Group (SOFLAG) is a community group, in partnership with local and national authorities, to provide clear information and data insights for flood preparedness and action at a local level, where wider information struggles with clarity to empower local communities.

Designed and built with @getkirby AI tools, Data APIs and Open Source libraries, and proving local hardware telemetry sensor data values and reliability.

Case Study: Flood Action Group website with data insights | Simon Clayson

This is an insightful project and website that can have real impact and influence, with flooding predicted to be an increasing threat over the coming years. Iโ€™ve worked with South Oxford Flood Action Group (SOFLAG) on an end-to-end project that covered research and validation, through prototyping, design, and web development. SOFLAG is a community group, in partnership with local and national authorities, to provide clear information and data insights for flood preparedness and action at a local level, where wider area and national information cannot provide the detail needed to empower local communities. More than a collection of embedded dashboards like so many projects like this, a unified look adds trust and aids ease of use. This site is a demonstration of what can be done with Kirby CMS, AI tools, Data APIs, and Open Source librariesโ€” in conjunction with proving local hardware telemetry sensor data values and reliability. On the roadmap: - Additional local sensors - Waterway overlays for the maps - Better cache setup The website is here: https://lnkd.in/e-cs6nDe with a full Case Study coming soon. If you think I can help your company or organisation - Get in touch! I specialise in big picture UX/UI B2B SaaS applications and complex Enterprise back-office software including Science, Healthcare, Logistics and Sport sectors.
