"FOSS maintainers are unpaid and don't have the resources to manage large open source projects, they _have_ to use AI to get anything done."

I've seen this take a couple of times in recent weeks, and I've got two things to say about it:

1. We've been able to manage large open source projects for decades in the past, without LLMs.

2. Ever thought about how there may be a connection between "FOSS is unpaid" and capitalism producing trillion-dollar AI companies and more and more billionaires?

How many ways are there to tile a 2×2n rectangle with n Tetris tiles?

The answer turns out to be the square of the n'th #Fibonacci number: 1, 1, 4, 9, 25, 64, 169, …

Gode folk i Fediverset,

Her føles allerede rart 🤗

I'm so tired of the whole " #AI has democratised #art " narrative. Cheap or even free creative tools and learning resources have existed for decades. Not wanting to become good at something is not the same as not having the resources to do it.

Speaking of resources, something AI is excelling at is increasing the price of computers by hoarding RAM and disk space, thus making things harder for less privileged creative folks. How very democratic.

i personally think a programming language doesn't need to be able to run complex logic to be one, but it's really difficult to convince people of that so it's just easier to make it run x86 assembly instead
Modern #Microsoft and #Windows makes me so angry. With every automatic, mandatory update I have to guide my poor grandmother through the process of either setting up yet more Microsoft services and backups and bullshit or jumping through hoops to not do so. All the while, I can't quite explain to her what choice she is making and what these services are.
It's infuriating.

The full library with all materials, cameras, and lightsources from https://physicallybased.info/ can now be downloaded in one .zip-file. It’s available as a Release on Github, so if you Star the repository, each new update will also show up in your feed 👍 Neat!
