Adding more status meetings to a late project will make it even later.

Them: "I'm having a hard time closing deals."
Me: "Are you ASKING for the close?"
Them: "..."

Come on, #freelancers, #consultants and #agencyfounders, you can DO this.

I'm tempted to write a bit about how to build a #freelancing or #consulting practice, considering how many developers are out of work these days.

Not sure if that's still a topic anyone cares about though? 🤔

Competence is a real thing. It doesn't mean "perfection", mind you, but genuine competence DOES exist.

Don't ever let anyone convince you otherwise.

A lot of people are reaching out to me for #consulting business advice, whether because of layoffs, or because of New Year Resolutions.

How about you? Are you planning to start doing #consulting or #freelance work this year? Starting an #agency model business?

After 5 years back in the regular workforce, I'm feeling the itch to own something of my own again, even if only a #sidehustle.

My "spotting opportunity" muscles are feeling pretty rusty.

P.S. The yellow Post-It in the middle reads:

"Smile. Be Thankful. Presume Goodwill."

Is it time for YOU to re-think, re-vamp, or de-clutter your workspace?

Feel free to post pictures of your work setup - good or bad - in reply!

That said, the peace of mind and clarity that this new setup has given me, is tremendous. I can feel the anxiety and mental clutter of the old setup falling away by the minute, even as I type this.

There's still work to do - the cable management isn't dialed in yet, for example - but this is a great outcome for an initial revamp.

I'm genuinely embarrassed to share my "before" photo with you, but I can't be the only one who has allowed entropy to get the best of their workspace, am I right?

This was a cheap and easy upgrade; 75% of the work was just clearing the junk off my desk. Go figure!
