How is fascism going for you? Here’s how it’s going for me.

Now that I’ve found my rhythm of resistance, I’m starting to have capacity to write about what’s happening. Not for sympathy or support—I am far from the most negatively impacted—but for clarity, to

This post is a great reminder that when writing technical documentation, your readers will just copy your examples verbatim a lot of the time.

You have to be thoughtful about things like sample code or example configurations because that’s actually going to be a lot of your customer’s production code and deployed configurations.

This applies outside of technical writing as well. People treat analogies and examples as just as canonical as the thing you’re teaching.

Hi Fediverse! I got laid off last week!

I've got a PhD in Computational Linguistics and have been working for the last couple years as a Linguist on Google Assistant.

My expertise is mainly in (a) linguistic annotation and (b) evaluation methods for Natural Language Generation (NLG). But I'm potentially interested in anything that will let me play with language data, or even language and/or data.

I'm currently in the NYC area and would love to stay here, but I'm open to relocating elsewhere in the US, as long as it's not to one of the states that trans people are fleeing from.

My mom said I should go back on Twitter to post about this, so getting me #FediHired would be a great way to prove that that's not necessary 😉
