I don't think the hypothetical unifying platform would/should come from Google. I doubt it'd be as free and open as it should be.

It just says that if you aren't paying for it, it's more likely that you're the product.

@sybren @stephenthomas0 Especially since Signal can also serve as an SMS app. So for those people who don't use Signal, you can use it to send SMS, and for the ones who do have Signal, you can send encrypted Signal messages.

@bkurdali I suspect that it must be true for a significant portion of the voters who elected the current US president.
