Socially awkward penguin, rollin' hard in the land of fediverse chicks and reply guys.
@colo_lee I planted these from seed last August. I don't remember why I planted them then, but they popped up, died back for the winter, and have done this. They're five feet tall. Elephant garlic from a chain store. I should have a mountain of seed.

@colo_lee thank you. This is exactly what I was wondering about. I'm going to try to convince our library to do a seed library, and I thought it would be easier if I showed up with a ton of stuff. I let some of my lettuce go, so there will be plenty of that too
Will my garlic be nasty if I let it go to seed?

I planted all the tomatoes I had growing in containers.
They were roasting in the sun, and felt nasty warm when I pulled them from their pots. A little shade should help them settle in. I planted more melons and squash to keep them company.

New SpaceX report on Starlink conjunctions and deorbits (a.k.a. dumping tons of metal/plastic/solar panels/computers into the upper atmosphere) https://www.scribd.com/document/883045105/SpaceX-Gen1-Gen2-Semi-Annual-Report-7-1-25

Scariest part:
472 Starlinks were burned up in the atmosphere in Dec-May. Assuming each satellite is 800kg, and 50% aluminum by mass, that's 1 ton of aluminum PER DAY.

The natural infall rate of aluminum from meteoroids is 0.3 tons per day. Starlink has been ~3x that, for the last 6 months.

I started harvesting garlic bulbs last week, after a good crop of scapes, and it's a mixed harvest. Some smaller than I'd like, a few broken and not fit for curing, but a decent number of good-sized solid bulbs. Certainly better than last year, when I was just testing varieties.

I snapped this guy pulling it, so I'll be eating it fresh, probably tonight.

I'm working on scaling up again this winter, doubling the bed space and taking what I've learned to hopefully grow a glut and give a bunch away. Baby steps, but I'm happy with the progress.

Oh heyy~ it's #DisabilityPrideMonth ✨ 🥰

Hi, I'm a freelance illustrator who's also born deaf. I was fully raised in the hearing world w/o sign language. I use 2 cochlear implants. With them, I'm hard of hearing and still face barriers in everyday life.

As an illustrator I'm privileged to be able to do this job from home, almost all communication via email & minimal reliance on spoken language. I've always loved drawing so this was always my dream profession.

#FunFactFriday get them wet with clean water and rub them together. They'll polish each other. A white paste means it's working. Add enough water to keep it thinner than yogurt, and work it! Beautiful things await.
@chrisnelsonsdog Now there’s a toot that really REALLY needs its accompanying photo in order not to be misconstrued as lewd 😉
