How UI degrades over time.

Top (Windows 95): great contrast, obvious shapes. Instantly readable.

Middle (Windows 11): shapes are still self-explanatory, but contrast is gone.

Bottom (Windows 11 Insiders): what am I even looking at? The only shape I can understand here is the Run button. Barely visible, though.

Then, on the left, there’s another something that says Run and has an icon. What is it? A window title? Another button? Why does it have to say Run twice?

@gruber Are you doing anything special to run Browserbench in your M3 MBP review? I'm getting 395-400 in Safari 17.1 on an identically specced M1 Max Macbook Pro. Trying to figure out (for my own edification) why my score is so much lower than yours.

Notable that Apple called out editing multiple streams of 8K video on Premiere Pro, and NOT Final Cut Pro.

Pro video editing is clearly a market Apple isn't after anymore, but for them to call out a competitors product is...something.

@jensimmons Any chance we can get Safari Technical Preview to show up as an option when customizing Focus Modes in Sonoma? I love the ability to set the Safari profile based on the current focus mode, but I don't see a way to target STP directly, only mainline Safari.

I have a huge amount of respect for the team working on watchOS and all the improvements we've seen in the latest release. It's probably my favorite Apple platform.

So when the watchOS app I use the most has design regressions, I have to say something. I hope the feedback is constructive and helps guide the product in a way that makes it more useful for folks like me.

Here are a couple thousand words about timers:

The Timer in watchOS 10 • furbo.org

The new visual appearance and functionality of watchOS 10 is a welcome change. There was clearly a lot of design and engineering effort put into this new interface and the improvements are tangible for most apps. Unfortunately, the app that I use the most on the Apple Watch has lost much of its usability, both […]

Anyone know, is the new Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro configurable by Focus mode?

E.g., I'd love to set it to open my home theater remote if I'm in ‘Home' mode, my calendar app when in 'Work’ mode, etc.

@bigzaphod Loving Ollie's Arcade so far!

One gameplay suggestion - it took me a few runs to realize that the floating bugs were not in fact enemies but gems to collect! I avoided them at first. Would suggest putting a gem in between two signs to force the player to collect it and teach that they are collectible!
