Did my early voting yesterday. I cast a vote for at least 1 candidate from the following parties:

Democrat
Republican
Libertarian
Green
US Taxpayers

You can speculate where on the ballot.

Personally, I'm looking forward to there being a big player in the Fediverse. I'm not sure many other, early Mastodon adopters will agree.
Will QTs finally come to Mastodon with the emergence of #Threads? I know Threads isn't opening up to the Fediverse quite yet, but with plans to do so I wonder if there'll be enough of a demand/need for it. 🤔 #threadsapp

There’s been a lot of speculation around what Threads will be and what it means for Mastodon. We’ve put together some of the most common questions and our responses based on what was launched today:

Our RBs are all together again! The Panthers have re-signed RB2 Stevie Scott who had signed with the Broncos over the Summer. With a retooled OL, our RBs should have holes for days in 2023.

Speaking of OL, the Panthers also pick up another guy to open holes for our RBs with OT Denzel Okafor out of Texas who went undrafted in 2022 but spent time with the Jaguars in their camp this year.

@[email protected] Fair. I should restate then: privatization isn't inherently pro-capitalism. It certainly enables a capitalist approach, but I don't think you need to hold many Capitalist ideologies outside of private ownership, and that's not enough to make someone a Capitalist.

I do think the model set forth by Mastodon is inherently anti-Capitalist even if it doesn't actually seek to prevent Mastodon to be commercialized (see: Gab and Truth Social).

@[email protected] Private vs public isn't inherently capitalist vs anti-capitalist, though. Mastodon is obviously very pro-decentralization, but it's also very much not set up to be monetized. It's much closer to ancom than ancap.

So I'll add onto what I've said before after reading @amandahoover's article... Mastodon is going to have to move towards a for profit model at some point. At least, offer that functionality. It'll never reach the maturity that Twitter has without it. I know it's against its anti-capitalist nature, but until you can run your own instance on a personal server powered by solar power... something's gonna have to give if Mastodon reaches critical mass before that point.

Mastodon Is Hurtling Toward a Tipping Point

As the niche, decentralized social networking platform rises in popularity, it faces rising costs, culture shifts—and potential legal risks.

I wonder if there's ever going to be a push for Mastodon to be open to brands. With sharing passwords being widely accepted as a BAD idea, will there be a way to implement social media teams for companies that want a presence on the fediverse?
@[email protected] There's definitely something to that, but I also see a lot of good from it. That's how I mostly use it.
