It's harder to get funding for basic research projects than ever before in Australia.

The @arc_gov_au Discovery Projects scheme now has the lowest “success rate” ever: 16.3%.

Only 1 in 6 grants are funded.

Why? The funding available has plummeted.

Please help, @JasonClareMP❗️

More evidence that Marcel Duchamp did not create his most famous attributed work, Fountain, but stole it from a Dadaist artist, Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, dumbing down the complexity she imbued it with.

Loringhoven’s urinal, as a Dada protest against war, does not count as conceptual art in the way that Duchamp’s framing of it is. Though in this case, the meaning of the artwork becomes simply “you made this? no, I made this”

‘This was his revenge on art’: is Marcel Duchamp’s greatest work a fake?

‘Fountain’, by the father of conceptualism, is seen as a pinnacle of 20th-century art – but new evidence casts doubt on its authorship

Well this post absolutely blew up. For more info on my stance on Discord's use for open source, I've spent the last day writing about this: https://blog.mattcen.com/2023/07/04/stop-using-discord-for-your-open-source-communities/ I don't have a SoundCloud, but I *have* finally set up crowd-funding which has been on my list for ages, if anyone's interested in slinging me a few bucks for the work I do. * https://liberapay.com/mattcen/ * https://ko-fi.com/mattcen/
