this year's supposed hot toy for the holiday season is a walking stuffed animal that blows out confetti. Their promo material is actively trolling parents.

Another UX Y'all Conference has come and gone, and I'm so proud to have been part of the planning team again.
We hosted more than 300 attendees and 18 speakers for two days at Raleigh Union Station. I ran conference logistics for the third time - I'm past the point of impostor syndrome and loving it.
UX Y'all is an entirely volunteer-run event, by and for the Triangle UX community. Come join us next time!

If you're into themed entertainment and immersive experiences, it's all top notch.
It's a hard/impossible event to photograph, but here's me and a guy who was more in character than anybody I've ever seen anywhere.
I already re-shared another post about this, but that doesn't feel like enough. Here it is again.
Today's front page of the campus paper has broken me.

Looking at pirated ebooks from before they were commercially available is interesting. It's still moderately difficult to find a high quality pirated ebook of Jurassic Park.
Pirating a novel in the 90s or early 00s meant manually scanning printed pages, not removing DRM from a store copy. So you get OCR errors like "help" appearing as "belp" throughout. And this wonderful cover image in the epub.
A huge amount of physical effort went into making this file - an artisinal handcrafted ebook.
