Here's a request: please don't poke fun at Americans. Roughly half of them are heartbroken or even frightened right now. They're the ones who read you. The folk that made this a reality don't, and if they do they give zero fucks what you call them. So maybe just show some compassion.
Fun story: Tim McVeigh was originally arrested for an unregistered handgun. Which is no longer an arrest-able offense in Oklahoma
Every time a researcher learns about SciHub a professor gets their tenure approved.
Anyone around #37c3 this week? Would love to meet some folks!
Has anyone ever written a book on web scraping theory not tied to a specific language or framework? Not "web scraping with scrapy" or "web scraping with python" but something along the lines of "advanced web scraping theory"?
Hope I can get in on the second day of vouchers for #37c3. I do miss the token cycle system of previous years, much much less stress for people engaged with community.

Travel pro tip: the hippies have disposable income and time in their hands since retirement. Do NOT travel to a city while The Grateful Dead are in town, it jacks up the hotel, flight and taxi costs by 50% minimum.

I'm actively reaching out to researchers who have used Twitter data in the past for their research to archive the full datasets (not just the publicly available Tweet Ids) This is cost-free for the researcher

Please reach out if you're worried about your work becoming useless because of Musk's ego.

Twitter is making researchers delete data it gave them unless they pay $42,000

I (finally) watched The Wire (first time) so I’m brainstorming other aspects of the city seasons could focus on.

First thought is the hospital system; gutted by the same forces as the Sun was and the front line of the violence on all sides but having to stay neutral. Anyone else with other ideas?
