She is also a co-founder of the collective Feminist Internet.

🌟 Excited to have her on board!

Today, the Commission unveiled its Digital Omnibus Package, reopening and weakening key elements of the EU’s digital rulebook.

The package introduces changes that would allow providers of high-risk AI systems to avoid core obligations, expand exemptions far beyond SMEs, and delay essential protections people most affected by AI.

Europe’s digital future must remain grounded in rights, oversight & democratic accountability, not deregulation disguised as simplification.

CDT Europe’s Statement on the Digital Omnibus Package

On 19 November, the European Commission published the Digital Omnibus Package; a twinset of proposals suggesting amendments to crucial laws underpinning the EU digital rulebook, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act).  Despite strong warnings by civil society, the combined proposals significantly water down key provisions in the […]

CDT Europe has joined 126 CSO organisations and trade unions in a joint letter warning that the EU’s #DigitalOmnibus”could dismantle hard-won fundamental rights online.

Changes to the core rights online risk weakening accountability & transparency and could be the start of wider deregulation of the GDPR, ePrivacy, DSA & DMA.

The EU must defend, not dismantle, the laws that protect people, democracy & fairness online.

Center for Democracy and Technology

As the European Commission moves to simplify the EU’s digital rulebook, we urge policymakers to protect and swiftly implement the AI Act. It’s the cornerstone of Europe’s human rights–based approach to AI and already strikes the right balance.

The AI Act doesn’t duplicate the GDPR or DSA, it complements them. Its targeted, proportionate rules are designed to fit seamlessly into existing compliance systems. Simplification shouldn’t come at the cost of accountability.
