@Monday aus (1.5) -> usd (1) but anything in the double-digit-k range would make me salivate tbh.

think of all the tacos, books, and videogames! ...
or more responsible things like loans, tuition, and bills i guess.

@Monday oh, gotcha. that would be rough because home life doesn't go away when you punch out for the day. but i don't think my answer would change. 40k *in savings* is a life-altering amount of money.

barring safety, my smooth brain would just grit it's teeth.

@Monday before college i sat at a desk for almost six years. 30k/y before taxes and insurance was "making it" after working in food service for just as many years for half as much w/o insurance and longer hours. any wage job requires that kind of head-down silence.

so yes, i would. i did.

now? i don't know if would get out of bed for less than 20/h. granted, my wife works now (we traded) and makes way more money than i even did. so admittedly i have that privilege.

@Chiaroscuro this one's getting bookmarked for my goat friend. 😂
@mwschmeer yes to the red frames, but not seeing any repeats. the order of home is wonky. local seems to be fine, though i did notice the 1h lag earlier.

@XanIndigo ordinarily i try to stay away from sarcasm because i'm of the opinion that it's my generation's way of running away from problems ... but damn, i am so salty seeing every horrible invention from future-looking media being reproduced in real life.

we (the grand we) have learned nothing from speculative fiction.

cyberpunk is cool now!

why not put guns on flying / dog drones?; why not make a vr headset that kills you?; why not birth ai that replaces creativity?

@XanIndigo okay, sure, but the vr headset that can kill you if you die in a videogame is a step in the right direction -- we can all agree on that, yeah?
@KatLynReid videos and blogs and even books are *productions*, meaning (a) a team of people collaborated to make it, or (b) the creative labor was outsourced. your personal productivity can't match that -- it's an unrealistic expectation.
