I love that this is in my hometown, only 10min bike ride from my house. This space is home to the followingโ€ฆ
* Newcastle Mens Shed, currently having a jam session
* Sparkhaus Studio, maker space and home to Burning Man / Burning Seed / arts projects
* The Share Shop, a library for tools and household goods
* Upcycle Newcastle, which runs workshops, helps on projects, and runs a material shop
* Yourfoodcollective, a local farm grocery service
* Also art spaces like The Creator Incubator

If you're involved in the #education of young people, you might enjoy https://journeysinfilm.org. They provide free educational material using (and sometimes about) #film.

For example, through the movie Hidden Figures, they've provided a wealth of lesson and discussion material covering topics like #STEM, civil rights, cold war / space race history, and film-making: https://journeysinfilm.org/films/hidden-figures/

The Mars #movie is another great one. https://journeysinfilm.org/films/mars/

@nolan I don't know if I'm a 'cool people', but I can see a lot of the crowd I'd like to hang with are on toot.cafe (web dev, Microsoft, general techie/science, engaged conversation and nice peeps). I'd love to join the community - hanging out for you to open up registrations ๐Ÿ˜Š

One of the birds on my street has learnt to imitate a car alarm, and now blurts it out in short bursts each morning.

I like to imagine he heard the alarm a few times, and was all "What the hell kind of bird is THAT?! It sounds BEAUTIFUL. I must find it. Maybe if I keep singing its call, it will come to me one day."

*wipes away a single tear*

@Angostura @art_vandelay Excellent demonstration, thanks Angosutra, and hello! :grinning:  Yeah, because this is a public post, anyone looking at a federated feed can see it too. Fun way to make new friends.
@art_vandelay Haha, no worries. Go for it.

That's some great tooting, friends! A++ would read again.

I need to do some non-tooty stuff now (gasp!). You all keep up the good work and I'll catch you later

@Vigilant Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. That will be a nice measurable sign of widespread usage - if/when media orgs decide it's worth setting up an instance.

@Rushyo hooray! Your fellow C# Mastodon users salute you! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

Anything that opens doors for developers to contribute in some way is great.
