Sailor and Writer in a day job that does neither.
If not for birthright citizenship, how many “Americans” would not be citizens today? Both my parents were born to immigrants or children of immigrants and would not have had citizenship passed to them. Based on that, I wouldn’t be a citizen. It’s crazy to think about.
I remember fondly the days when the most controversial thing you could do on social media was to post a picture of your lunch.

I’ve done a pretty good job excising politics from my social media feeds. The best way to do this is to use the algorithms to your advantage. Don’t engage with political posts, do engage with content you want to see. Now my feeds mainly show me:

- Writers
- Hikers
- Boaters

These are my people. ☺️

Make no mistake, this is huge for Mastodon. Currently people have to choose between X, Mastodon, and Threads, and network effects play a dominant role in that choice. If we can say, you can access all the folks that went to Threads from a Mastodon account, that makes it a far more attractive option given all of its other perks 😉
