I love Energy. Lots of it. Unlimited. Endless.
Probably should be a sun-god worshipper (apart from the bit about getting burnt... ;-)

M.Eng in Renewable Power - never used, due to the climate wars in Australia over the last couple of decades. About to retire, but still passionate about where the world is going.

Also love re-wilding urban areas. And so on... lol

Oh.. I live in Perth, W.Aus - needed for context, a lot of the time! ;-)

Live long, and Prosper.

How many times will it have to be said - the consumption to extinction of fossil AND nuclear fuels is INEVITABLE - regardless of the realities of climate change, pollution, or ANY other variables...

The lack of embrace for renewables over the last generation by 'conservative' mentality governments and mindsets has NOTHING to do with reality - it's purely a LACK of IMAGINATION.

A survey of the world's solar panels shows a global energy boom

Satellite imagery reveals the staggering rise of solar farms around the world in recent years. Can Australia get on board?

The man with no imagination.
...Except how to manipulate division for political gain.
A perfect example of a softly spoken monster with a heart of stone.
In the Discord Android notification settings, what is the difference between "direct messages" and "messages"?

An astounding image of our moment at the precipice:

Climate activists standing against the inhuman-scale machinery of the open-pit Lützerath brown coal mine, with a wind farm visible in the distance.

"The fear that I feel biking in cities isn’t actually a fear of biking; it’s a fear of cars. Only a suite of infrastructure changes can combat the deadliest risk to cyclists. Not helmets alone."

In the ’80s, We Decided Bike Helmets Make Riders Safe. Cyclists Have Paid for It Ever Since.

Some cyclists refuse to wear helmets on principle. They have their reasons.

Random meta: I have always disliked the "Mute this conversation" feature on both Twitter and Mastodon. The problem is it mutes an ENTIRE thread, all the way from the root (I think??), whereas when I want to use this feature it's usually because a sub-thread (IE, one reply and its sub-replies) has gotten out of hand.

The feature winds up being a weird trade: "I'll stop bothering you about this asshole's reply thread if you'll agree to mute notifications on this other thread you made on purpose"

To me, the entire thrust of introducing renewables into the mix, should have *always* had an overt public awareness of the need to get them *above* (well above) demand levels, with designed-in dispatchable technology being incentivised and co-ordinated simultaneously.
I'd like to see a terse, lay-public friendly meme/description of why, exactly, the whole 'we-must-have-baseload' argument is so deeply flawed - and actually an opposite world rationale for maintaining it.
Agence France-Presse, one of the world‘s largest news organisations, runs a regularly updated list of climate misinformation which they debunk. More news organisations should do this:
