@sturmsucht This is similar to my experience. I volunteer for my local repair cafe and there's usually at least one person, often in their 60s or older, who would like to switch their old Win10 computer to Linux.

Everyone I've helped switch to Linux Mint so far seems very happy with it. It's easy to use and stays out of your way, unlike Windows which will nag you to set up OneDrive/Copilot among other annoyances.

@0xabad1dea Might be the only reason why there aren't 1m signatures yet. Less than 3000 to go!

Please, everyone who wants to check if we have reached the threshhold of 1 million signatures (Update: we have :) on the "ban conversion therapy" initiative, use this link:

https://eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/api/report/progression

It's ugly, but it gives you the number you are looking for without putting extra load on the servers by avoiding all the pretty UI etc from being downloaded. Leave the full page to those who want to sign! Deal? :)

Fantastic news! We've reached 1 million votes! But please keep sharing and voting in case some votes are invalid!

EU citizens, please sign this petition to ban so-called "conversion therapy" in the EU. It's a practice that's extremely harmful towards LGBTQ+ people.

The site is a little slow, but keep trying!

https://eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#/screen/home

It's already banned in some countries but we need a EU wide ban!

We now have eight countries past their thresholds, and we have at least 1,000,000 total votes.

So keep signing & voting!

@sleepy62 @kottke I expect they had to in order to prevent it from exploding under the weight of the tank
@jon I don't understand the fixation on putting solar panels in the worst possible places, like bike paths, roadways or in this case train tracks. Even panels on a permanently shaded wall/fence would work better; they wouldn't generate much, but they would still be in good working order for 20+ years, unlike the Wattway panels that stopped working after less than 2 years.

@luckytran If I were in their position I might use synonyms (e.g. "pregnant individuals" instead of "pregnant people") or homoglyphs to make the banned terms impossible to search for (e.g. "αžΤŒΞ’Ξ€"). It would take someone reading through the entire paper to catch the substitutions.

I hope scientists take the opportunity to be sneaky or maliciously compliant/incompetent to defeat the intention of this order.
