Why are cast iron London street bollards lining the cliff paths at Durlston Country Park, Dorset? They were brought back as ballast by empty ships returning from transporting Purbeck stone to be used for building in the capital city. When the ships arrived back in Dorset they unloaded their London ballast. Great Victorian recycling!
