The battery on my new Lenovo M11 tablet was draining fast and it didn't make any sense because the tablet and battery is brand new. It's supposed to last all day. Turns out it was the Facebook app running in the background nonstop spying on everything I'm doing on the tablet and using all the battery power. Deleted the app. Problem is fixed.

It's hard to pin down cause and effect isn't it? I've had COVID (in 2021) but not too badly and I don't think it left any permanent damage. In 2022 I was diagnosed with two different cancers which were treated in June 22 and Feb 23. I also have a couple of other health issues. I've no idea which is to blame but I regularly feel completely washed out. Exercise doesn't work. Admitting defeat and having a sofa day usually means I'll be OK the next day.
We would like an answer.

OK, feel free to mute this if it's not your thing - I don't want to bombard passers-by!

Since the COVID thing, I've had huge issues with lethargy. One school of advice from friends is 'get out and move about more during daylight', and another from the people with CFS is generally, 'exercise will tend to make this worse'.

I'm guessing I'm just going to have to 'suck it and see', yes?

If the weather calms the fuck down tomorrow, I may try a short walk round the Harbourside, and see how I get on. I suppose if that goes well or horribly wrong, I'll have an answer!

@bytebro @TheBreadmonkey thank you, it was lovely!
@bytebro “interesting” times ahead for sure @bruce

I was trying to photograph these red doors and this man came barreling through on his bicycle. Not mad at all. Thanks for making my boring photo of some doors look way more interesting, bud.
@Alice The times when people would stop to let a photographer take a picture are over. And it's OK :)
@Szescstopni@circumstances.run Yeah! I really don't mind when people walk in front of me when I’m taking a photo. I’m stationary and they're on a mission from one place to another, so they can continue on their path.
@Alice the best street shots are serendipitous
And I love the guy’s face! So badass!
@Alice wow he looks so fitting there, it's a banger

@Alice

The slightly fascinating bit is that he has the ciggie in his mouth the wrong way round. Didn't see that at first look!

@bytebro @Alice mini cigar in a plastic holder?
@bytebro @Alice and my first impression was Will Smith in disguise
@bytebro@mastodonapp.uk I thought so too, but I think it's something like a Swisher Sweet and a filter.
@bytebro @Alice It's a cigarillo, looks to be the brand Black 'n Mild? Unless there are others that have the tip like that (or, indeed, a separately purchased tip another brand was put into)
@bytebro @Alice i'm pretty sure it's either a super fancy cigarillo or a vape, definitely not a normal cigarette the wrong way round, the cig butt would be wayyyy to large.
@Alice
I'm always intrigued by folks who smoke while riding bikes. They obviously haven't bought into the whole "good for your health" propaganda 🚴‍♂️ 😆
@Alice everyone else on a bike is doing it wrong
@Alice the little basket is everything
@Alice I love how much is going on over here. I saw the reflection of a bicycle wheel and then realized that that can be the guy's bike because your leg is in front of it and there was a car behind all of that. Love all the layers of things in the photo and continuing into things behind the camera!
@Alice What I love the most about this shot is that your foot is dead centre in the frame. It's actually a self-portrait with a bunch of other stuff going on. 😉

@Alice Love that picture. So much going on.

What is that Bob Ross quote? 'There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.'

@Alice You have an interesting eye Alice! :-)
I don't follow you, but our friend @Kaja always boosts your best ones - she's like my own personal fedi photo curator for me ;-)
What a lazy sod I am!
@gemlog
From a certain age, you can be "served" a little more ;)

@Alice@gram.social
@Kaja
Oh sure! An age joke - dig at my old age!
:-)
Ah. You know I have an affection for you, you're allowed :-)
@Alice
@gemlog
I'm not that far away - I allow myself to :D

@Alice@gram.social

@Kaja
I only saw your foto once. I think you are 50-odd? Or maybe it was 40s. I can't see it properly in my mind. I'm 65 by the end of this year.

@Alice

@gemlog

58.
I can do that!
😅
@Kaja 58. Then you are doing very well then! Nice! :-)
I think it was only 2-3 years ago that I saw a head shot of you at a photo gallery site of some kind, but you didn't look mid 50s, I know that. I wish I had a better memory. Some people can see things very clearly in their mind's eye, but mine is a bit fuzzy. I retain mostly the impression.
On the other hand, there are people who are unable to visualize *anything* and don't have a mind's eye at all :-(
In any case, I need to compliment you always - we have to keep Markus on his toes and attentive! He has to be constantly aware that there is an entire internet after you :-)
@gemlog

That's why I'm hiding behind the almost 30-year-old photo of myself—no one will recognize me ;)

BTW Did your daughter inherit your charm as well as the kindness?
It's a dangerous combination, since she's already very wise!)

@Kaja

> hiding behind the almost 30-year-old photo of myself
I'll bet you don't need to. Now that I'm older, I can see things in faces that I couldn't see before when I was younger.

> inherit your charm
No one has ever accused me of that before. No.
Here's the thing. I am a very selfish person pretending to be nice.
My daughter is actually, really nice. I just try to act nice, but inside I'm very selfish.

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
― Kurt Vonnegut, Mother Night

About my daughter. These days she is 37 and has her own cleaning business, but for years she cooked soups, baked muffins and barristad at a cafe in town. She went in at 6 and opened at 7 or so I think. Lot's of regulars and this is a small village of 12k ppl.
I don't have a name here. I am not 'paul', no.
I am simply Gemma's dad. :-)
"Oh, hey! Gemma's dad!"
"How's it goin' eh? Gemmas dad right?"
"Hey - aren't you Gemma's dad?"
"Hi Gemma's dad!"
:-)

So there's that too.

@Kaja
> hiding behind the almost 30-year-old photo of myself
This is me last october. No dentures. Didn't shave. What a git. But I did brush up for her most days.
But Annie looks good. 77 at the time.
Yes, I'm wearing a toque with a welsh dragon reading Cymru :-)

@Kaja

Fair point. I mind the time my best mate marked her as being somewhat 'controlling'.
And, she does know how to make me do things.
I remember a time Gemma remarked that her pregnant co-worker was craving plums.
So I went back to the house and picked her a bunch of plums. She just knew to make me do that by simply mentioning. IDK. Is that controlling?
She said after that she knew I'd do that. IDK.
Sometimes I find the world to be a very confusing space.

@Kaja I don't know for you, but for me, I always ran from photographs and there are very few of me.
But, after Annie, I realize that it was really a false modesty - a vanity. This is really who I am. Some old guy. Get over it.
So. Now I don't care. I simply wasn't being honest with myself for how I was behaving all those years.
I had been like that all my life though, so I really don't understand it.
@Alice This is real good.
@Alice Will Smith entering the stage.
Love this one. Serendipity FTW!
@Alice wearing what appears to be a gucci wu-tang t-shirt.
@Alice I had a similarly serendipitous photo a few years ago. I was setting up to try to get a photo of the night sky (I think? It's been a while) and a car disturbed my long exposure.
lol, dude is vibing.
@Alice @Tsbasatoru Looks great indeed. I love when something like that happens.
the problem I have is that people would often stop to give me a second without knowing it's their passing silhouette that I needed to complete the photo. #firstworldproblems
@Alice This is a beautiful picture, I love everything about it!
