I'd love to know more about why #Sutro went out of business in the United States. For me, it worked amazingly well. Just floated there, doing the things, measuring my chemicals and giving me data.

$400 investment initially, monthly subscription during the summer to cover costs of new tests and delivery.

Now I'm using #WaterGuru and it feels so much like several steps backward.
It definitely does the things. So that's nice. Temperature is aggregated over 5 min intervals, which is ok. But it's definitely designed for above ground pools by default, sitting in the skimmer overflow. It looks a little strange floating freely in the pool.

Still about $400 for the equipment, but tests can be purchased and stored. Probably saved until next summer if they're left over... But that's wait-n-see.

So, um, I bought a new monitor. An LG 32U990A, 32 inches, 6K pixels. It arrived last Friday.

I guess 15 years of Apple monitors has spoiled me, because the picture quality is terrible. Blacks are not black, saturated colors are washed out, small text is blurred by the matte coating, and worst, white levels are very uneven, especially in the upper left (see photo).

It was glorious having that much screen space, but yesterday I returned it. Back to 27".

I saw someone using #firstworldproblems just now, but most people don't know what "first" "second" and "third" world even meant!

In the Cold War, "First World" was US and its allies, "Second World" was USSR and its allies, and "Third World" was everyone else.

So Switzerland is actually a "third world" country, on account of them keeping neutrality in the Cold War!

Watching Game 5 right now and instead of a video somewhere between 2-3 hours, I've got a nearly 5 hour monster because of a ticker for storms in the area, and several EAS interruptions. Stupid lifesaving information defeating the Plex ad detection...
