After 11 years, today is my last day at Square/CashApp/Block. Easily the best job I've had, but all things change over time and given recent events now felt right. Time to actually enjoy some of my hobbies.

Some bad choices were made, so to address that a new bad choice was made. Now a bunch of people that I care about are suffering. What a block head!

When you hear leadership say things like “AI is going to exponentially increase your ability to have impact, which is going to mean the product improves faster and the company does better” you should make note of how that is literally never followed by “and so therefore your compensation will also be increasing exponentially to take this increased impact into account”

This confusion could've been easily avoided if Google was more clear in how they communicate with their users.
