@dashdsrdash BTW, you were right to call me out, there is a bug tracking this and it's getting some attention (though no fix yet).

I've updated my original post with a link to said bug and cut out the hair trigger snark.

@dashdsrdash If this is a genuine bug, then hey, bugs happen and I'm happy to roll with it. But these days its difficult to tell the difference between "oops" and "yeah we're getting rid of that 'cuz reasons" (I thank Gnome and systemd for a lot of that churn these days). In short: my trust has been eroded.

These services going from enabled to disabled didn't immediately smell like a bug to me and rather a change in default config. If that's not the case, then great! I look forward to the fix!

Don't ask why this is important for me, but today I updated to the latest #Debian testing and the VTs disappeared. To fix I had to manually run "systemd enable [email protected]" to get another VT back.

Looks like there's a bug tracking this: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1129276

#1129276 - systemd: Getty not started after upgrade to 260~rc1 - Debian Bug report logs

@RyeNCode Nah, the straight battery replacement requires a SIM ejection tool and a little care. Took me two minutes.

But they offer a free replacement module that completely replaces the CMOS battery with a small circuit board that wires directly into the laptop battery itself, eliminating the need for a separate CMOS battery entirely. *That* requires a bit of soldering if you want to go that route (the upside being you never have to replace the CMOS battery ever again).

Well, if you've got an 11th generation Intel #Framework 13 (i.e. the first gen model) and you start encountering weird behaviours -- in my case failing to properly power on until it's plugged into AC and clock reset issues -- replace that CMOS battery! I got a freebie replacement from #FrameworkComputer and my flaky FW13 is now 100% back to normal.

I have to admit I was too chicken to get the battery replacement module... I do not trust myself with a soldering iron *that* much...

@xenzirril Alas the sinkholes remain...
@Perrin42 Yeah the latter might help with the issues I'm seeing but I'm already careful with my speed and yet the invisible sink holes mean the Collosus is regularly getting trapped and the cargo starts flying out. Absolutely maddening. Tbh physics has always been NMSes weak spot so building a hole (edit: lol typo but I'm keeping it) feature and expedition around it seems... misguided. 😕
Welp, for the first time in a long time I don't expect to finish a #NoMansSky expedition. Terrain bugs with the Collosus make the expedition basically unplayable as it's impossible to find a safe route from point A to B without getting sucked into random invisible holes in the terrain. Terrain clipping has always been an issue in this game but given the mechanics of this expedition they're dealbreakers.

@NewGoliath Glad it was helpful!
